How Services Explained researches Victorian rules, scopes and prices
Every guide on Services Explained is built from dated primary sources—Victorian legislation, statutory regulators, and official dispute bodies—so you can see exactly which rule applies and when it was last verified.
Our four research rules
Legal, safety, and money decisions require stricter verification than general consumer blogs:
- First-party Victorian regulators first: We cite primary guidance from BPC, ESV, CAV, RDRV, VCAT, ASIC Moneysmart, and AFCA, showing the exact date each source was checked.
- Scope before price: A headline price means nothing until you know whether it covers assessment, labour, parts, specialist equipment, GST, and compliance certificates.
- No unverified price averages: We never invent "Melbourne market averages" from advertising leads or unverified provider websites.
- Publication and upkeep: The publisher approves each guide. We cite dated authoritative references, recheck changing rules, and withhold unsupported or restricted material. Specialist review is optional and identified only when it has actually occurred.
